For me, the best thing about bring a writer, is the pure joy in creating a story. It is the author who shapes the characters, decides what flaws they have and what choices they make. You also create the world your characters live in, adding texture to the story. I mostly write about locations that I have experienced and know intimately, revisiting these places I've been to is like visiting an old friend.
